I just got the first phone call today. It's a scary and hard thing. I'm newly married (2 months), and we'll be missing both of our birthdays, Christmas, and New Year's together. But, I know he'll be safe. And you will, too. The Army will train you to the best of their abilities. Just stay strong. Tell your wife to stay strong. Lean on each other for support and don't be afraid to let each other know how you feel. Also, tell your wife to go to any spouse predeployment workshop or meeting that she can. I went to a couple and they helped me out a ton. Fort Lewis has been very good about taking care of us. <br /><br />And at the end of the day, what gets me through is thinking of it like this: 9 months isn't so bad when you have a whole life time together.
